020 Transmission Cable VW Tool US5043
WRC design & manufacturers a newer, updated version of VW Tool US5043. As seen in the link above, this tool is NLA (No Longer Available). This tool sets the clutch cable adjustment on all VW all Mk1 & MK2 with a 020 transmission. To use this tool, first unscrew the adjuster, so there is a enough space to insert tool. Then follow these steps.
Pull up on clutch cable.- Insert tool between transmission and cable adjuster
- Turn adjuster so there is zero play or movement up and town on the clutch release lever arm. The tool should slide in and out with ease and no tension. If it’s difficult to pull out, it’s too tight and needs backed off.
NOTE: The adjuster tightens the cable when you unscrew it. Make note of what direction the adjuster is moving when turning. - Once the perfect tension is set. use two wrenches to lock the cable.. Hold the upper part of the cable adjuster with one wrench. (see diagram) With the other, lock the lock nut in place. Again, make note of what direction the lock nut is moving when locking it in place.
For use on all VW all Mk1 & MK2 020 Transmission. May also work on other VWs. Check your application before ordering. Replaces Factory VW Tool US5043.
