Description
Our Stainless Steel CV Axle plates are custom made for West Coast Roccos. These are made from 304 stainless steel. These will not deform once torquing the bolts in. Furthermore, these plates will never rust and clamping force on the boot flange is much more even.
Features:
Set of 6 for left and right axles.
- Fits Mk1 Scirocco 90mm flanges
- Fits Mk2 Scirocco 100mm flanges
- For 8mm bolts only
- Also fits some Aircooled VWs and Air Cooled Porsches.
PLEASE MEASURE YOUR CV PLATES BEFORE ORDERING.

Why Stainless Steel CV Axle Plates are better?
- 304 stainless steel offers several benefits, including strong corrosion resistance, durability, and ease of fabrication. It’s also known for its aesthetic appeal and is widely used in various industries.
- Corrosion Resistance: 304 stainless steel is known for its excellent resistance to corrosion, making it suitable for a variety of environments. This includes exposure to moisture, acids, and even saltwater.
- Durability and Strength: The steel is durable and can handle high-stress applications without cracking or deforming. It also has a high tensile strength.
What are CV Axle Plates?
CV axle plates, also known as CV joint plates or CV axle retainer plates, are components used in vehicles with Constant Velocity (CV) axles. Their primary functions are related to securing the CV joints and ensuring the integrity of the drivetrain.
- Securing the CV Joint: These plates often bolt directly onto the outer face of the CV joint. This helps to hold the CV joint assembly together and ensures that the internal components, like the balls, remain in their correct positions, especially under the stress of turning and suspension movement.
- Preventing Ball Joint Escape: In some designs, particularly at extreme angles of the CV joint, these plates act as a retainer to prevent the balls within the joint from escaping their tracks. This is crucial for maintaining the constant velocity function of the axle.
- Providing a Mounting Surface: The plates can also serve as a secure mounting point for the CV joint to either the wheel hub or the transmission/differential flange. They ensure a tight and reliable connection.
- Locking Mechanism: Some CV axle plates, or “CV Axle Bolt Lock Plates,” are specifically help CV joint bolts from loosening over time due to vibration. It also helps with rotational forces of the drivetrain. These have specific shapes or features to lock the bolt heads in place.
- Protection and Sealing: In some applications, a plate might also contribute to the sealing of the CV joint area, helping to keep grease in and contaminants out, although the primary sealing function is usually handled by the CV boot.
In summary, CV axle plates are important for the structural integrity and proper functioning of the CV axles, ensuring reliable power transfer to the wheels while accommodating the vehicle’s movement.
